Deborah Bond Dance Academy

Deborah Bond Dance Academy:History

The dance school was begun in 1994 with just 11 pupils in Plymouth. After the first year there were 45 pupils and the first class was started in Ivybridge. After three years the school at the China Fleet Country Club was taken over by Deborah and at that point approx 300 pupils were attending classes. Exams in ISTD were being taken regularly by pupils and already the first show and festival dances had been enjoyed.

After a further two years a full time teacher was required to aid the rapid growth of the school and after 6 years the school had grown to around 500 pupils.

The Heidi McWilliams school in Ivybridge was bought a year later helping the further growth of the Ivybridge branch and in 2002 Deborah made the step of buying the Gaynor Walter School of Dance in Newton Abbot. This is the school that Deborah herself trained at and then taught at for 7 years.

At this point the school had around 850 pupils and now required a further 6 teachers and three administrators.

Finally in September 2004 the Emma Davies School of Dance in Bridgwater with approx 100 pupils was taken over and completes our current site of schools.
